Founded with the vision of accessible legal education and support, DHVSU Law was established under the leadership of late Atty. David Robert C. Aquino, CSEE, Ph.D., the founding dean.Atty. Aquino has been instrumental in shaping the institutionβs mission and values, ensuring that legal aid is available to those in need.
Atty. David Robert C. Aquino, CSEE, Ph.D. had a distinguished career in both education and public service. He has authored numerous law books and served in various director-level positions in the Philippine government, including the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court. Dean Dave Aquinoβs contributions to legal education and his commitment to human rights have left a lasting impact on the community. His work as a legal and political consultant, along with his role as an educator, has been widely recognized and respected (Centralbooks, 2023).
The University, through the School of Law, collaborates with various government agencies to provide students with opportunities to engage in real-life legal scenarios beyond traditional classroom settings. This initiative ensures that future Honorian Lawyers are equipped with the necessary skills to serve the people, especially those in Pampanga. Upholding the University's professionalism, excellence, gender sensitivity, good values of governance, and disaster resiliency remains central to this endeavor.
In partnership with the Commission on Human Rights, the School of Law is set to establish a Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE), which is a flagship subprogram under the Human Rights Institute Program. It is the aim of the School of Law and the Commission to foster a continuous research program, education, and information dissemination to promote respect for human rights. To achieve the shared goal of human rights protection, the CHRE will undertake functions in research, instruction, and extension activities.
